Hello! My name is Nadia and I am a mom to 3 beautiful boys, in the process of adopting a girl. I live in Windhoek, Namibia.
After my mother passed suddenly in 2019, my journey began with holistic healing. I am constantly busy with multiple courses, including Conscious Parenting and Emotional Freedom Technique, in the hope to find methods to help people cope with their trauma and every day struggles.
Becoming a PPCP peaked my interest as my birthing experience with my first boy was not the best. I wanted a natural birth, but ended up having an emergency caesarean. Everything leading up to my birth and what happened after, I believe could have been much better if I had been more informed. As a first time mom, I felt alone, unsure and completely unprepared. I struggled with connecting with my baby and eventually received medication for Postpartum Mood and Anxiety. I also struggled with breastfeeding and felt like I had completely failed as a mother.
I started questioning why I knew so little? Did every new mother go through this? I yearned for the days where we would live in communities, where the women of those communities would share their knowledge and experience on pregnancy, birthing and caring for a baby. Now, we as mothers seem to be thrown in the deep end and expect to just swim. Sadly, many of us struggle for a long time, and some even drown. I want to start building communities again, connecting moms to form a support system, and to make the message clear that it is okay to ask for help. We don’t need to do it all on our own.
* I am experienced in providing postpartum care and I am currently in the process of completing the required hours to gain full certification as a PPCP.
