Nadia Maheter

My name is Nadia Maheter. I am a wife & mother to 5 little human beings, 3 whom I mother on this Earth with me and 2 eternal angel babes who is mothered in heart & memory. My background is primarily in education. I was a primary school teacher in Johannesburg & I’ve always had a passion for birth and supporting others on this wild ride called parenthood. So when we moved to Cape Town, it gave me the opportunity to pursue my passion as a birth worker.

Today I am a certified and practising advanced birth doula, bereavement doula & a facilitator for the Positive Birth Movement & the Compassionate Birth Project. I am also a master trainer for the HBB & HMS programs & the Doula Liaison Officer at a maternity home where I run a program mentoring student Doulas as they complete their certification requirements. I was part of the pilot group who were the first in South Africa to be trained as PPCPs.

Postpartum care is sacred to me. In my culture we practise 40 days postpartum confinement and it was an absolute gift to be honoured and held in special care as I navigated the new roads and overcame the challenges that motherhood presented. That essence is something I want to preserve, carry over, translate and adapt to my clients needs, weather they have had live births or pregnancy and infant loss. This is a fundamental part of my ultimate goal: to be able to serve and support women and families from conception to postpartum and everything in between.

I am based in Cape Town Southern Suburbs and my service extends to the Northern Suburbs, Somerset West , Cape Town CBD and Cape Peninsula areas.
